Hands-On Garden Day - Monday, March 23
Keep Planting, Georgia! Kick off Georgia Ag Week by getting your hands in the soil! Plant a vegetable, flower, or native plant to celebrate the start of Georgia Ag Week.
Encourage your family, school, or community members to get involved and capture your Keep Planting, Georgia! moment.
Step 1: Choose Your Plant
- Grow Something Tasty: vegetables, herbs, fruits and more!
- Grow Something Beautiful: flowers, ornamentals, shrubs and more!
- Grow Something Useful: native plants, compost starter and more!
Use a seed, seedling, or plug depending on your plant.
BONUS: Use this as an opportunity to visit a Georgia Grown plant nursery to pick out your new plant.
Step 2: Prepare Your Space
- Prepare your container.
- Choose a classic pot or a unique container. Try a milk carton or old plastic container!
- Ensure your container has drainage holes.
- Gather your materials: container, soil, water, gloves, garden tools, etc.
Step 3: Plant Your Plant
- On Monday, March 23rd, celebrate the start of Georgia Ag Week by planting your plant in the ground or in your chosen container!
Step 4: Take Your Picture
- Snap a picture of your new project!
- Tag @GeorgiaGrown on social media and use #HandsOnGardenDay.
Step 5: Keep Growing!
- Take care of your new plant!
