Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper Announces Over $1 Million in Funding for Dog and Cat Spay/Neuter Grant

ATLANTA, GA – Today, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper announced the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Dog and Cat Sterilization Program (DCSP) Grant will award a record $1.15 million in funding this year—the highest level in its history. The grant helps reduce overcrowding in companion animal shelters by expanding access to affordable spay/neuter services statewide. The application period for the DCSP Grant begins on May 15, 2026, and eligible organizations must submit their applications by June 15, 2026, to be considered.

“The DCSP Grant provides critical funding to expand spay and neuter services across our state,” said Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper. “This year’s historic $1.15 million award represents a significant investment in addressing animal overpopulation. By supporting local shelters, rescue organizations, and veterinary partners, we are taking meaningful steps to improve animal welfare in communities throughout Georgia. I encourage all eligible organizations to apply.”

The grant is available to licensed animal rescue organizations, local government animal shelters, and veterinary medical foundations. Funding supports spay/neuter procedures and expands access to essential animal welfare services across Georgia. Beginning May 15, 2026, updates and notifications will be shared through the program’s website and newsletter.
