ATLANTA, GA – Today, Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper signed a proclamation officially declaring September 2025 as “Georgia Grown Apple Month.” To celebrate the beginning of Georgia apple season and support local producers, Georgia Grown — a division of the Georgia Department of Agriculture — has released the Official 2025 Apple Orchards Map, a guide to orchards across the state offering pick-your-own opportunities.

“Many Georgians don’t think about visiting North Georgia’s beautiful apple orchards until the weather turns cool and the leaves turn brown, but apple season in Georgia is in full swing right now,” said Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper. “This month, Georgia Grown is proud to showcase Georgia’s apple industry and the farm families who work tirelessly to fuel its success.”

Georgia has a long tradition of apple production, and with numerous generational family-owned orchards, Elijay, Georgia, is considered the apple capital of the state. As of the last USDA agricultural census in 2022, apple acreage in Georgia grew by 76%, reaching 984 acres statewide, which supports an estimated 360,000 apple-producing trees. The farm gate value of Georgia apples reached over $10 million in 2023.
