Georgia Department of Agriculture Launches 'Protect Your Peach' Campaign
ATLANTA, GA - To help inform rural Georgians about the best actions to protect their communities, the Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) has launched the 'Protect Your Peach' campaign. GDA's Georgia Grown program has teamed up with partners from Georgia Farm Bureau, University of Georgia Extension Service and state commodity groups to promote the campaign which targets the agricultural sector regarding stopping the spread of COVID-19 and benefits of the vaccine.
"This is a great example of partners coming together with one message all working towards a unified goal," said Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black. "Agriculture is critical infrastructure in Georgia, and we want to make sure that our essential workers are well informed, especially once we move into phase 1B of the vaccination plan."
The campaign ties agriculture commodities together with information to learn more about the vaccine that is supported by a targeted social media campaign using the hashtag #ProtectYourPeach.
"UGA Extension is delighted to collaborate with our partners in the ag industry to speak with one voice about the importance of vaccines in protecting our food supply and the economy of Georgia," said Laura Perry Johnson, associate dean for University of Georgia Cooperative Extension. "Extension employees in all 159 counties in Georgia are working with their local partners and clientele to get the facts out about vaccines."
Dairy, Beef, Peach, Peanut, Poultry, Vegetable and Forestry commodities are all highlighted throughout the campaign. Every picture is followed with the statement: "Get the facts about the COVID-19 vaccine at cdc.gov". Find us on Facebook and @GeorgiaGrown for Twitter.
