About the Georgia Blueberry Commission
The Georgia Commodity Commission for Blueberries is a grower-funded organization dedicated to supporting the success of Georgia’s blueberry industry. Funded by Georgia blueberry growers, the Commission’s mission is to improve the efficiency, marketability, and profitability of blueberry production in the state.
This is achieved by directing and funding vital research conducted primarily by scientists and horticulturists at the University of Georgia. Research efforts focus on key areas such as:
- Testing fungicide and insecticide effectiveness.
- Developing and evaluating improved blueberry varieties to boost yields and enhance fruit quality.
- Investigating frost protection methods to reduce crop losses.
- Understanding how plants absorb nutrients to optimize fertilization practices.
- Identifying innovative production techniques to help growers remain competitive.
By investing in research and innovation, the Commission helps ensure that Georgia blueberry growers can thrive in an evolving marketplace.
