ACTION: Notice of Intent to Consider Amendments to Subject 40-7-7 entitled Additional Regulations Applicable to Pecans

TO ALL INTERESTED PERSONS AND PARTIES:

Pursuant to the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, O.C.G.A. §§ 26-2-34 and 50-13-4, notice is hereby given that the Georgia Department of Agriculture will be accepting written comments regarding proposed amendments to Subject 40-7-7 entitled “Additional Regulations Applicable to Pecans.” The Department will be accepting written comments from April 2, 2020, to the close of business (4:30 p.m. ET) on May 4, 2020.

SYNOPSIS, MAIN FEATURES AND DIFFERENCES:

The Department is proposing to amend Rule 40-7-7-.06 entitled “Size Classifications for Shelled Halves” to provide for a new size classification for pecans halves, which would be called “Georgia Grands” and contain 200 or less halves per pound. The Rule would also change the classification of “Midget” halves to “Extra Small” halves, would adjust other numbers for accuracy and consistency, and would adjust the format for clarity.

The Department is proposing to amend Rule 40-7-7-.07 entitled “Size Classifications for Shelled Pieces” to change the classification of “Midget” Pieces to “Extra Small” Pieces and would adjust the format for clarity.
