Feed labels allow purchasers to select a product to meet their production needs and contains instructions on how to use the product to obtain the best benefits and results.
A commercial feed label contains information describing the feed product and details necessary for the safe and effective use of the feed. The feed label must include the product name and brand name (if any), net weight, guaranteed analysis, approved name of each ingredient used in the manufacture of the feed, the name and principal mailing address of the manufacturer, directions for use, and precautionary statement(s). The uniformity provided by requiring that certain information appear on all labels helps to prevent unfair competition between feed companies.
Labels of products must be submitted with any first-time application for a feed license.
