ADM Animal Nutrition, a division of ADM, is recalling specific pelleted animal feed products because they may contain elevated levels of copper or have levels of zinc below the represented amounts which could be harmful to cattle. The recalled products were distributed between January 16th through February 27th of this year. The products could have been purchased in IL, MO, TN, IA, GA, and OH. To date, no illnesses or deficiencies have been reported. 33 lots of these recalled products have been reported as unsafe. Please note that the products below are medicated feed unless noted otherwise.
The following product has been recalled due to deficient zinc levels:
- Gro Fast 32 (non-medicated)
The following products have been recalled due to excessive copper levels:
- Beef-trate BT/MGA - Beef-trate MON
- BovaGain LMTR MON 400
- BovaGain 32/15 W/ Prosponse RU/TY
- BovaGain 40/20 (non-medicated)
- BovaGain 40/20 LAS
- BovaGain 40/20 LAS/MGA
- BovaGain 40/20 MON (both 200mg/lb & 250mg/lb dosage)
- BovaGain 60/45 RU - BovaGain 60/45 MON
- BovaGain 60/45 MON/TY - MasterPlex 100P (non-medicated)
- MasterPlex 100P LASA
- MasterPlex 100P MON
Possible impacts of zinc deficiency include: decreases in feed intake, feed efficiency, and growth. Possible impacts of chronic copper toxicity include: gastroenteritis characterized by anorexia, signs of abdominal pain, depression, lethargy, diarrhea, and dehydration.
