Background: Water spinach (Ipomoea aquatica) is commonly consumed in many parts of the globe, but it is regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and by many states due to the plant's invasive qualities. However, the states of California, Florida, Hawaii, and Texas now allow the sale of water spinach under a state permit. Commissioner Black will give updates about the new regulations that will allow water spinach sales under a Georgia Department of Agriculture permit.
