Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations

Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations, in Georgia, are permitted facilities that regulates the disposal of manure and process wastewater through land application systems from new and existing animal feeding operations across the state. CAFO facilities range in multiple types of animals but mostly in Georgia, under CAFO, facilities that are covered are dairy, swine and poultry. The CAFO program in Georgia began in the early 2000s with the development of rules and regulations. Each facility is required to meet particular requirements ranging from records being recorded to obtaining continuing education for staying up to date with industry improvements.
