Ashley Short

Ashley Short grew up on a small family farm in east Tennessee. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee with dual majors in Psychology and Legal Studies, Ashley went on to attend Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia. While at Mercer, she was a Research Assistant and member of Mercer's distinguished Law Review.

After law school, Ashley worked with a private practice firm in Macon, Georgia serving clients in the areas of school and education law, labor and employment law, estate planning and probate law, and contract litigation.

Eager for the opportunity to combine her passions for agriculture and law, Ashley joined the Georgia Department of Agriculture as an attorney in June of 2013. On January 1, 2016, Ashley was appointed as the Department's General Counsel and Director of Legal Services.
