Ag Day Celebrated in Atlanta
Governor Nathan Deal and Commissioner of Agriculture Gary Black hosted the 2013 Ag Day celebration March 12th at the Freight Depot in Atlanta. The event drew visitors from throughout the state including members of the General Assembly, 4-H and FFA students, and representatives of various agricultural organizations. During the event, Commissioner Black and Governor Deal announced the winners of the Flavor of Georgia Food Product Contest.
The Flavor of Georgia food product contest consists of market-ready prototypes or commercially available food products from across the state that are judged and critiqued by a panel of food experts.
Categories include barbecue and hot sauces, confections, dairy products, meat products, snack foods, jams, jellies and sauces. Entries are judged based on flavor, best use of Georgian ingredients, Georgia theme, unique or innovative qualities, commercial appeal and originality.
