Who is required to be licensed?
Who is required to be licensed?
Pet Dealers:
anyone who sells, offers to sell, or exchanges, or offers for adoption dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, or other animals customarily obtained as pets in this state.
Bird Dealers:
means any person engaged in the business of dealing, purchasing, breeding, or offering for sale, whether at wholesale or retail, any exotic birds, pet birds, or birds customarily kept as pets.
Kennel:
any establishment, other than an animal shelter, where dogs or cats are maintained for boarding, holding, training, or similar purposes for a fee or compensation.
Animal Shelter:
any facility operated by or under contract for the state, a county, a municipal corporation, or any other political subdivision of the state for the purpose of impounding or harboring seized, stray, homeless abandoned, or unwanted dogs, cats and other animals; any veterinary hospital or clinic operated by a veterinarian or veterinarians which operates for such purpose in addition to its customary purposes; and any facility operated, owned, or maintained by a duly incorporated humane society, animal welfare society, or other nonprofit organization for the purpose of providing for and promoting the welfare, protection, and humane treatment of animals.
Equine:
any member of the Equidae species, including horses, mules, and asses. (
