October Proclaimed Agritourism Month in Georgia

In recognition of the vital role that the agritourism industry plays in Georgia’s economy, Gov. Nathan Deal proclaimed October as Agritourism Month in Georgia. Agritourism, an experience that combines the state’s top two industries, is becoming increasingly popular throughout the state. With 4.5 million acres of cropland and diverse agricultural sectors, Georgia offers an assortment of agritourism sites and destinations that visitors are sure to enjoy. From wineries to pick-your-own veggies, it’s a great way to enjoy the outdoors and experience agriculture first-hand.

To celebrate Agritourism Month, Commissioner Gary W. Black is hosting an agritourism tour, visiting agritourism sites throughout the state. The goal of this tour is to promote the agritourism industry and bring awareness of agritourism activities that families can enjoy during the fall.

With a huge variety of outdoor adventures such as corn mazes, pumpkin patches and much more, the fall is the ideal time to experience all that agritourism has to offer. In order to help travelers find these destinations, the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Georgia Grown program created an agritourism locator available on its website. The locator tool allows tourists to search for agritourism destinations within a certain radius while traveling. You can find an agritourism location nearby using the Georgia Grown locator at georgiagrown.com. Simply enter your ZIP code or use your phone’s location to quickly find agritourism destinations near you.

The Georgia Grown locator can be found at www.GeorgiaGrown.com.
