To All Interested Persons and Parties:
Pursuant to the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, O.C.G.A. § 26-2-267, notice is hereby given that the Georgia Department of Agriculture will be accepting written comments regarding the amendment to rule 40-3-1-.01(d) relating to the expiration date requirement for packed eggs. The Department will be accepting written comments from July 3, 2012, to close of business (4:30 p.m. EDT) on August 3, 2012.
Synopsis, Main Features, and Differences:
O.C.G.A. § 26-2-268(a) requires a 45 day expiration date from the date eggs are packed. Currently, however, department rule 40-3-1-.01(d) provides an expiration date of 30 days from the date the eggs were washed, candled, and packed. Therefore, the Department is proposing to amend the expiration date for packed eggs from 30 days from the date the eggs were washed, candled and packed to 45 days from the date they were packed to maintain consistency with Title 26, Chapter 2, Article 8.
Comment Period and Additional Information:
The Department will be accepting written comments from July 3, 2012, to close of business (4:30 p.m. EDT) on August 3, 2012. Written comments shall be considered on August 6, 2012. Please submit written comments to:
