Julie McPeake came to the Georgia Department of Agriculture to serve as the Chief Communication Officer in July of 2014. Julie acts as the official agency spokesperson of the Georgia Department of Agriculture and facilitates all media inquiries for the department. She is responsible for all communication efforts; including news releases, the Farmers and Consumers Market Bulletin, the Georgia Grown magazine, social media and all other public relations materials.
Julie was able to bring a unique perspective to the communication division, given her prior experience as a farm broadcaster for Southeast AgNet Radio Network and as the Director of Public Relations for the Georgia Beef Board. Prior to coming to the state of Georgia, Julie worked with both Ag in the Classroom and Farm Bureau in Florida. Julie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Education and Communication from the University of Florida.
When not communicating the message of agriculture, she experiences it firsthand by working alongside her husband, Andrew, and children, Naomi and CAM, on their purebred Angus operation in Oglethorpe County.
