Georgia Grown Savannah Summerfest returns to the Savannah State Farmers Market this weekend with new vendors
Following the success of last summer’s Georgia Grown Savannah Summerfest event, Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black announced today this event will be returning on Saturday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Showcase events are aimed at increasing the consumer retail experience at the Savannah State Farmers Market (SSFM) as they bring together farmers, producers and consumers in the area.
“We have seen tremendous support from both producers and consumers of Georgia Grown products across the state for our showcase events,” Black said. “As we head into the summer season, the showcase is the perfect opportunity to pick up fresh, locally grown produce along with other items produced in our own state that you cannot find in stores. We would like to encourage everyone to come out and support our local producers.”
On June 29, Market visitors will find a wide range of locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as pork, beef, poultry; plants, flowers and other nursery items; olive oil, jams, jellies, barbecue sauces and honey; and baked goods and other prepared foods. In addition, visitors will also find cooking demonstrations throughout the day, an antique car and tractor show, children’s rides and face painting.
Located off US Hwy 80 West in Savannah, the Savannah Farmers Market open is open year-round featuring locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables, nursery plants and more. Beyond the Georgia Grown Summerfest event, visitors can take advantage of an on-site restaurant, garden center and wholesale and retail shopping opportunities. Learn more at www.GeorgiaGrown.com.
