Georgia Grown Farmers Showcase returns to Atlanta Market with new vendors

Following the success of the earlier summer Georgia Grown Farmers Showcase events, Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black announced today that the next event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Showcase events are aimed at increasing the consumer retail experience at the Atlanta State Farmers Market (ASFM) as they bring together farmers and producers with consumers in the metro region.

“We have seen tremendous support from Atlanta area communities so far this summer and we welcome everyone to the September rendition, which will feature repeat vendors as well as some new faces,” Black said. “As we head into the fall season, this event is the perfect opportunity for consumers to start thinking about fall – get your first batch of Georgia Grown pumpkins, gourds and even corn stalks while stocking up on the remainder of summer’s bounty fresh from the farm.”

On September 15, Market visitors will find a wide range of locally grown seasonal fruits and vegetables, as well as pork, beef, poultry, fresh eggs and seafood products; plants, flowers and other nursery items; olive oil, jams, jellies, barbecue sauces and honey; and baked goods and other prepared foods. For those early holiday shoppers, find unique Georgia made soaps, candles, beeswax lip gloss, candy and more.

Located off I-75 in Forest Park, the 150-acre market is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Georgia Farmers Sheds 13 and 14 will be closed to through-traffic so visitors can park and walk through, mingling with vendors from across the state as they shop. Beyond the Georgia Grown Farmers Showcase event, visitors can take advantage of on-site garden centers, wholesale and retail shopping opportunities, restaurants and a Georgia Grown welcome center.
