The 25th annual Hellebore Days event will be held at Piccadilly Farm Nursery and Gardens in Bishop, Georgia on Friday, March 3 and Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 9 am to 4 pm each day. All weekend activities are free and open to the public and will include refreshments, Athens Plein Air Painters Art Exhibit, Guided Hellebore Garden Tour on Friday morning at 9 am, and Georgia Model A Ford Club exhibit on Saturday morning. We are pleased to have Dr. Allan Armitage, University of Georgia Professor Emeritus of Horticulture, talk about “Common Sense of Gardening” on Saturday at 9 am in the pavilion. Dr. Armitage will provide you with recommendations of great plants to use in your garden.
Hellebores (Helleborus x hybridus), also known as Lenten Roses, bloom in the late winter. The beautiful long lasting flowers are a mix of colors including white, pink, rose, purple, and pale green. Hellebores are evergreen and will spread to form a wonderful groundcover for shady areas. They are drought tolerant; deer and pest resistant; require little maintenance; and are adapted to most areas of the United States. Piccadilly Farm sells almost twenty types of hellebore varieties including mixed colors, doubles, and special colors. A complete plant list is provided on the nursery’s website at www.piccadillyfarm.com.
Piccadilly Farm is open for retail sales each Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm during the months of March, April, May, September and October or by appointment on weekdays the rest of the year. Piccadilly Farm is located at 1971 Whippoorwill Road in Bishop, Georgia which is south of Athens in Oconee County. Groups are welcome to visit the gardens by appointment. Contact (706) 765-4444 for more information or to make an appointment.
