Atlanta State Farmers' Market wins Beautification Award

Thursday, June 26, 2008

The Atlanta State Farmers’ Market received this month’s Beautification Award from the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce.

The award was presented to Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin and Farmers’ Market Manager Craig Nielson by the Clayton County Chamber of Commerce at Clayton State University Thursday morning.

“An attractive landscape lifts the spirits of the workers and the visitors at the market,” said Commissioner Irvin.

Every month the Keep Clayton County Beautiful board presents its Beautification Award to businesses and properties with impressive landscapes that contribute to the overall beauty of Clayton County. This month the Atlanta Farmers’ Market is being honored for its cleanliness and remarkable display of flowers outside the visitor’s center.

“It’s important that people keep their homes and businesses looking nice, not only for themselves, but for others. It’s a civic responsibility. The Farmers’ Market is also a great source for the entire metro area to buy plants to beautify their homes and businesses,” added Irvin.

The Atlanta State Farmers’ Market is located at 16 Forest Parkway in Forest Park. The market features a garden center with seven nurseries, wholesale and retail distribution of fresh produce as well as a restaurant and welcome center. For more information, call (404) 675-1782.
