Georgia Soft Serve Delights, LLC is voluntarily withdrawing and replacing soft serve product delivered within the last few days to 43 Dairy Queen stores in northeastern and southwestern Georgia.
The company is taking the action following a test by the Georgia Department of Agriculture that indicated that the product may not have met all processing requirements, according to Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin.
The company expects all affected stores to have fresh soft serve supplies by midday Friday, May 9, 2008. The company will also work with the stores to ensure that proper disposal and sanitary procedures are followed.
“We very much regret the inconvenience to the stores and their customers, but we believe it is essential that the product’s safety and quality be assured. We appreciate the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s support and guidance of our procedures to replace the product and to ensure that the product is safe,” said plant general manager Joe Denmark. “At the levels tested, neither the state nor the company believes there is a risk to consumers.”
