Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin has appointed a new specialist, Matt Anderson, to the Office of International Trade at the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
A native of Marietta, Anderson received degrees in both international business and international affairs from the University of Georgia. He began working for the Department of Agriculture as an intern and was appointed as a full-time employee earlier this month.
Anderson spent nearly a year in China under a federal scholarship from the Boren National Security Education Program.
“Anderson’s knowledge of the Mandarin language, as well as his familiarity with the Chinese culture and economy, will help to establish a personal connection with China,” says Deputy Commissioner Terry Coleman, who oversees the Office of International Trade and Domestic Marketing. “Hopefully, he can assist us with the eventual establishment of an agricultural trade office in Beijing.”
