Perdue Farms recalls some chicken products

Monday, January 28, 2008

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin is alerting consumers to the recall of some Perdue Farms chicken products.

Some 24,710 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breast products are being recalled by Perdue Farms, Inc., Accomac, Va., because they may contain an Italian seasoning which includes milk, without listing it on the label.

Georgians who have an allergy to milk or milk products could have a severe reaction if they consume this product.

The chicken products being recalled are “PERDUE Perfect Portions, 6 Individually Wrapped Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts.”  The package bears the establishment number “EST. P-7903” inside the USDA mark of inspection as well as the UPC code “72745-06819.  The product has a “Sell-by or Freeze-By” date of “FEB 02,” “FEB 03,” “FEB 04,” “FEB 05” or “FEB 06.”

The chicken products, produced on Jan. 19, 2008, were distributed to retail outlets in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

Georgia Department of Agriculture inspectors are checking retail and wholesale food sales establishments for the removal of the Perdue chicken products.
