Fresh Spinach Alert
Georgia Ag Commissioner provides update
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin provides the following update on the fresh spinach recall issued last week by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
• Don’t eat fresh spinach or fresh salad mixes that contain spinach.
• We know at this time that the following companies and brands are involved in the recall and could be contaminated:o Natural Selections and River Ranch are the two companies recalling fresh spinach and spinach mixes.
o Natural Selection brands include: Natural Selection Foods, Pride of San Juan, Earthbound Farm, Bellissima, Dole, Rave Spinach, Emeril, Sysco, O Organic,Fresh Point, River Ranch, Superior, Nature's Basket, Pro-Mark, Compliments, Trader Joe's, Ready Pac, Jansal Valley, Cheney Brothers, Coastline, D'Arrigo Brothers, Green Harvest, Mann, Mills Family Farm, Premium Fresh, Snoboy, The Farmer's Market, Tanimura & Antle, President's Choice, Cross Valley, and Riverside Farms.
o River Ranch brands include: Farmers Market, Hy Vee, Fresh and Easy.
Canned and frozen spinach are not affected and neither are other fresh greens. Many other dark green leafy vegetables are available this time of year.
As of Monday morning, the Georgia Division of Public Health had not received any reports of illness in Georgia related to this current situation. Anyone who gets sick after eating fresh spinach should seek medical attention immediately.
