Agriculture Commissioner Warns of
Possible Plastic Pieces in Stouffer’s Meatloaf

Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin is cautioning Georgians to watch for some packages of Stouffer’s Meatloaf with mashed potatoes because the product may contain pieces of plastic.

Commissioner Irvin’s advisory comes following an announcement that Nestlé Prepared Foods Company, Gaffney, S.C., is voluntarily recalling the product.

The recalled product is in 9 7/8-ounce packages and is labeled as "Stouffer’s® Meatloaf, ketchup-glazed meatloaf in gravy with mashed potatoes, Made With REAL POTATOES.” Each package bears the establishment number “EST. 7991” inside the USDA seal of inspection.  Each package also bears the package code "6123595510" followed by a letter Q through Y, and “BEST BEFORE MARCH 2007.”

The frozen entrees were produced on May 3, and were distributed to retail establishments nationwide.

“I have instructed our sanitarians to check all grocery stores and food warehouses during normal daily activities for the implicated products.  If any is still found for sale, we will place it under a “Withhold From Sale” order for pickup by the distributor or seek voluntary destruction.  Consumers who have bought this product may return it to the place of purchase for a refund,” said Commissioner Irvin.
