Harry & David Recalls Candy
Due to Three Possible Allergens

Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin announced today that Harry & David’s has recalled some of its Chocolate Covered Pear Bites because they may contain undeclared almonds, egg and wheat ingredients.

Harry & David Operations Corp., Medford, Oregon, is recalling approximately 2700 bags of Chocolate Covered Pear Bite candies because the packages may also contain Key Lime Cookie Bite candies.  Both products are spherical, lime-green colored candies.  The Key Lime Cookie Bite candies look similar to the Pear Bite candies, but they contain almond, egg and wheat ingredients.

The eight-ounce bags of Harry and David Chocolate Pear Bites candy have lot code 037061 printed in black ink on the bottom.  The clear plastic bags are tied with a tan ribbon at the top.

“Anyone who may be allergic or shows a severe sensitivity to any one of these three, eggs, almonds or wheat, should avoid this product,” Commissioner Irvin said.  “Those  who have the candy should call the 800 number listed for a refund or for more information.”

The packages of candy were sold nationwide in Harry and David stores.  Those who need to arrange for a refund or need more information should call
800-345-5655.

The candy was produced by the Marich Confectionery Company.
