Pecan allergy warning
Publix Recalls Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin today warned consumers allergic to pecans to avoid some of the refrigerated packages of Publix Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough because the dough may contain pecans that are not listed on the product label.
Publix Super Markets issued a voluntary recall for the 18-ounce ‘Chub’ size of the cookie dough with a date code of 17 Sept. 2006 and an item code (UPC) of 41415-00703. People who have allergies to pecans run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.
The dough, used for making baked cookies, was sold at retail stores located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
“Publix is furnishing a replacement for the dough or offering a full refund,” Commissioner Irvin said.
