California Company recalls product for undeclared sulfites
Walong Marketing, Inc. of Buena Park, California has recalled "G.W. Strawberry Cake," and "G.W. Honey Dew Melon Cake" and "Asian Taste Dried Sweet Potato" because they may contain undeclared sulfites, according to the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
"G.W. Strawberry Cake," and "G.W. Honey Dew Melon Cake" were packaged in 7.76-ounce bags. The Honey Dew Melon Cake is a product of Taiwan. The “Asian Taste Dried Sweet Potato" was packaged in 7-ounce bags and is a product of China. They were distributed nationwide to retail stores.
Tommy Irvin, Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture, has instructed all food inspectors to check for these products when they inspect retail food sales establishments and make sure that any of the products have been removed from store shelves. The products are to be held by the establishment for distributor pickup or may be voluntarily destroyed.
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites, a food preservative, run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
“If you have purchased any of these packaged treats, check the identification and return any that are part of the recalled products for a refund,” said Commissioner Irvin.
Consumers with questions may contact the company at 877-675-8899.
