664 pounds of Italian ham
imported from Canada
placed on national recall list

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin warns today that 664 pounds of  “Thumann’s Boneless Posciutto (Italian ham),” is being recalled by its importer.

Thumann’s Inc., Carlstadt, NJ, has alerted the Food Service Inspection Service, USDA, that 664 pounds of the Italian ham may contain Staphyloccoccus aureus enterotoxin, a bacteria that may cause food poisoning.   The hams, produced on April 24, were distributed nationally.

The hams left the distribution plant in cartons containing two half pieces.  Each label bears the establishment number 507 inside the Canadian seal of inspection.  The lot code is 00634.

“We don’t know if any of this Italian ham is in Georgia but consumer need to be aware,” Irvin said.
