Forest Park, GA company recalls "Beef Patties Mix" for possible E.coli 0157:H7 contamination
Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin confirms that a Forest Park, Ga. company is recalling its "Beef Patties Mix" due to the potential that it may be contaminated with E.coli 0157:H7.
Approximately 1,900 pounds of ground beef product is being recalled. The Arko Veal Company, Forest Park, produced the beef between Sunday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 9.
The product being recalled is:

50-pound cases of "BEEF PATTIES MIX," "80/20." Each case bears the establishment number "Est. 20766" inside the USDA mark of inspection and a product code of "502250." Each case bears a production date of "07-Oct-07," "08-Oct-07" or "09-Oct-07."
The beef product is distributed to restaurants in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.
E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration. The very young, elderly and persons with compromised immune systems are the most susceptible to E. coli, a foodborne illness.
Consumers are advised to only eat ground beef patties that have been cooked to a safe temperature of 160 ºF regardless of color.
