Some "Genuine Sweet Baby Carrots" recalled for potential contamination

A potential harmful bacteria contamination in some baby carrots has Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin warning consumers of a possible health risk.

"Genuine Sweet Baby Carrots," produced by the Los Angeles Salad Company, City of Industry, Calif., is recalling its product because it may be contaminated with the bacteria Shigella.

The carrots were sold under two labels.

Shigella infection can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting lasting four to 14 days. The young, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems are most susceptible to the infection.

Georgians who have purchased the Los Angeles Salad Company "Genuine Sweet Baby Carrots" may return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
