Lakeside Foods French Style Green Beans voluntarily recalled as precaution

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin informs consumers of the voluntary recall of French Style Green Beans that have the potential to be contaminated with harmful organisms including Clostridium botulinum.

Lakeside Foods, Inc. of Manitowoc, Wis. has initiated a recall of 15,000 cases of its 14.5-ounce French Style Green Beans. The product may have been under processed and some cans may have leaked, according to the company's recall.

The green beans have been sold under the following labels:

ALBERTSON'S, HAPPY HARVEST, BEST CHOICE, FOOD CLUB, BOGOPA, VALU TIME, HILL COUNTRY FARE, HEB, LAURA LYNN, KROGER, NO NAME, NORTH PRIDE, SHOP N SAVE, SHOPPERS VALU, CUB FOODS, DIERBERGS, FLAVORITE, IGA, BEST CHOICE and THRIFTY MAID. The affected cans have the codes: EAA5247, EAA5257, EAA267, EAA5277, EAB5247, EAB5257, ECA5207, ECA5217, ECA5227, ECA5297, ECB5207, ECAB5217, ECB5227 and ECB5307 which can be found in the top line of the can code.

No illnesses have been reported and no botulinum toxin has been found in any cans tested to date. However, the company continues to test out of an abundance of caution. Botulism is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning. Symptoms include weakness, dizziness, double vision and difficulty in speaking or swallowing. We urge Georgians with this product to return it to its place of purchase for a full refund, Irvin says.
