Georgia Agriculture Dept. Signs Trade Intent with Taiwan

Friday, Georgia Department of Agriculture (GDA) Commissioner Tommy Irvin and a trade delegation from Taiwan joined in a ceremonial signing of a letter of intent.  The agreement calls for increased sales of Georgia poultry, pork and beef sold to the island nation.

Here, Director General R.C. Wu, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta, shares his enthusiasm to the agreement that was later signed (left to right) by: Greg  Tyler, USA Poultry and Egg Export Council; Terry Coleman, GDA deputy commissioner; Irvin; Taiwan Poultry, Pork and Beef Goodwill Delegation Head Thomas Tseng, president, Game Meat Industrial Co., LTD; and  Tom Taylor, USA Poultry and Egg Export Council.

In ’06, Georgia exported $360 million in goods to Taiwan.  During the same year, Taiwan imported $222 million of poultry, pork and beef from the U.S.
