Agricultural Seed / Instruction for Sending Samples for Lab Testing

Farmers should adhere to the following steps in order to have seed tested at a state seed laboratory:

1. Send between one to two pounds of any large seed, such as soybeans, peanuts or corn, and about one-half to one-quarter pound, depending on seed size, of smaller seed.

2. Include the kind and variety, lot number or other identifying mark, along with your full name, address and telephone number.

3. Mail seed samples in a cardboard box or similar container to protect them.

4. Allow 2-4 weeks for testing to be completed, depending on seed kind.

5. North Georgia farmers/ consumers should send seed to:

South Georgia farmers/ consumers should send seed to:

Georgia Department of Agriculture Tifton Laboratory Building, P.O. Box 1507, Hwy. 41 South, Tifton, GA  31793-1507.
