July 31, 2006
Dr. Linda Smyth, President of Middle Georgia Clean Cities Coalition, greeted Commissioner Irvin at the Macon stop of the Drive Clean and Green Across Georgia. Commissioner Irvin sponsored the King Ranch Ford diesel truck powered by biodiesel in the drive from Atlanta to Tifton July 31st for the kickoff of the BioEnergy Conference the next day. The ten vehicles in the drive demonstrated the wide variety of alternative fuel vehicles. Middle Georgia Clean Cities sponsored the drive to showcase the vehicles available in today's market and to spotlight distributors and users of alternative fuels in Georgia.
Irvin, riding in a King Ranch Ford truck supplied with Georgia bio-diesel fuel, was part of a parade of 10 vehicles using a variety of alternative fuels. “These new vehicles, which you can purchase today, are clean-burning, fuel-efficient and have plenty of horsepower,” said Irvin.
