Pecan Shortbread Cookies

2 1/2 c self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup margarine
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup finely chopped Georgia pecans

Sift flour and sugar together; cut in margarine and shortening for a meal-like mixture. Mix together egg, water, and vanilla. Add to flour-sugar mixture. Add nuts. Work with hands until moistened and you are able to make into a roll. Wrap in wax paper; chill until firm. Slice about 1/4” thick. Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet at 350° until light brown. Yield: 36 cookies.
