“Georgia Grown” Online Store now Open to Consumers

State Department of Agriculture Commissioner Gary W. Black announced today that a new Georgia Grown online store has officially opened and is accepting orders from consumers in Georgia and across the nation.

“The ‘Georgia Grown’ product line started with t-shirts and hats this summer and has grown with immediate and tremendous success,” Commissioner Black said. “Now, every consumer anywhere in the U.S. can access this online store with new products that emulate just how proud we are of Georgia and of our state’s No. 1 industry – agriculture.”

The t-shirts featuring “I am Georgia Grown” designs in a variety of colors have quickly become top sell-outs during Department functions and community events. Produced by Platinum Sportswear, which makes more than one million t-shirts annually at its local plant in Wilkes County, the t-shirts are now available to the general public via the online store, including both adults and children’s sizes. The Georgia Grown caps are made by National Cap and Sportswear, a company based in Waycross specializing in custom sewing and embroidery.

“Our goal with this Georgia Grown consumer store is to provide the best quality items made right here in our state,” Commissioner Black added. “If and when that’s not an option, then products will be made here in the USA.”

The Georgia Grown store, available at www.georgiagrownstore.com, is running concurrently with Georgia-based companies including Langston Communications, EPM3 and All Points Fulfillment. The store opens in conjunction with the roll out of the new Georgia Grown program, which serves as a marketing and branding tool to help promote Georgia’s multifaceted agriculture industry and all locally grown and produced products. For members who are already a part of the Georgia Grown program, the new store offers special discounts based on the level of membership.
